I drift forth from primeval banks Beckoned on by verdant fronds Black boughs part waves of verdigris Hushed by mantles of grey With crooked oars I rend the Silvern haze Nebulous shores Confound my mortal gaze The shrouded distance frowns The mists darken and bruise An argent, glowing mount Cast in effulgent hues Immense, unearthly mass A Polyphemic head Thence we all must pass The isle of the dead A spectral spire Wrought from sable frost Rises from the mirrored surface The tideless waters Sublime in purity Sweep me away from the failing world Unto forgotten regions of the soul Clad in diamond divinity My vessel has passed away To commune with the hosts of grey Forever in that mount to dwell Until the peeling of the iron bell Til the life of the world is done Sit illumined by a second sun Transcend time in that pearly spire Gaze transfixed upon the stones of fire

Of old we saw the universe with pristine perception Blank page of pure mind defiled by vulgar inscription Blind to clear light of the void, dimmed by evolution Essence and is-ness, we saw them of old Ancient awareness, we saw them of old I feel in my marrow, we saw them of old I know in my spirit, we saw them of old Gleaming like Enceladus, a coruscating glow Lights the deepest darkness, its stream forever flows Man tragically ignorant, cursed with perishing sight Unseen palaces of differentiated light Loom Consciousness obscured By The Silvern veil clouds a flimsy raiment Of boundless space Before time, entwined in the blackness Before the dawn of thought Amorphous sphere, without centre or circumference Perfect oneness with the void A galaxy of intense and vital beauty Domain of the divine Ascending the clouds of creation unborn, unmade, unformed We can feel nothing We can see nothing We can hear nothing We know nothing Nothing

Child of noble family the time has come for you to seek the path Thy breathing is about to cease. Thy guru hath set thee face to face with the Clear Light; Earth sinks into water Water Sinks into fire Fire sinks into the air Body fades into ether Putrefying sun is dawning Let me hear not of my kin Their laments and tears of mourning Aching in my spectral limbs Remains shrouded and cremated But wrathful deities Affright Woe and awe unsublimated Solemn words sagely insight May she of white raiment Protect me through this plight white stones be my payment Deliver me unto the clear light Let the roaring not Affright thee Echoes of thine intellect Smoky lights shall not invite thee Fear not they of grim aspect Face chrysanthemum mandala Bathed in transcendental sun Crumbles chains of bleak samsara Peace with thee beloved one Cloaked in the grey light Isolation, lightless plain Confounded in twilight Dementing lunar stranes Accursed with gnawing hunger Disembodied, wracked with pain Astral body torn asunder Inject the clear light into my veins [though Stygian chasms beset thee Looming to the left and right Holy womb again begets thee Offspring of mother clear light] Environs of immortality Unseen Doorways to living geometry Luminescence of Infinity Incandescence swallowed in divinity

Arise o magnificent sun Ignite the world in ecstatic hues Uproot From this abode of frost That we might soar in azure skies Crumble Mantle of crippling rust Reforge Our grey iron bones Into lustrous burnished gold Find the fibrous lightning of our primal line Fling wide the thresholds of the mind Become awash with elemental fervour An ethereal symphony of glory Reveal a mirror of infinite beauty Revivify these atrophied limbs Ease hearts congealed in rigor mortis Lament not For the beauty which is not thine For sun, moon and stars still shine From our hearts' icy sinews We implore thee to appear Crown us with Diadems of fire Arise o magnificent sun

Aware! Embedded mute embryo Budding in the null space Intricate root system Of veins and arteries to absent heart Tranquil in the current Voicing the vibrations Being sheds tears of lead Submerged in swells of sentient splendour Kindling of Profound truth Enriching as it travels Inferno, bones aglow I become as we were when we were not Awakened to the cells themselves With resonance most thunderous Aflame with lustre wondrous At profound truth they strive to tell Confounding revelation Hidden knowledge heretofore Shrouded in pregnant metaphor Divine illumination Intrinsic eternity From innermost to nethermost Corporealise pale ghost Overwhelming connectivity I am peace I am love Earth beneath And skies above Lifts ghosts of words from frosted panes Rid of fear sadness and shame Harken! To the song of creation Alive in jubilation Awake! Harken! To the song of creation Beatific congregation Awake! Harken! To the song of creation Attuned to life's vibration Awake! Harken! To the song of creation Shed mental contagion Awake! From silence and tranquility we came and shall depart Trees and sky and rainfall whisper music in your heart Gleaming like Enceladus, a coruscating glow Lights the deepest darkness, a stream that forever flows Man transcends his ignorance, beyond perishing sight To Unseen palaces of differentiated light Uneclipsed moonbeams First light is dawning Your heart sings like the sun in the morning

about

'As We Were When We Were Not' is our debut album released via Avantgarde Music.

Inspired by Aldous Huxley’s 1962 lecture on visionary experience, the album explores themes such as spiritual enlightenment, death and the afterlife, and man’s kinship and subsequent alienation from the universe.
